Associate Scientist II (in vitro Preclinical Development)

What you will do

• Develop and execute in vitro cell-based assays for mRNA-tLNP pipeline programs from early discovery through IND-enabling studies.
• Evaluate mRNA-tLNP-mediated T-cell reprogramming, including cytotoxicity, effector function, activation, proliferation, cytokine profiling, and immune-cell phenotyping.
• Isolate PBMCs and T cells from leukopaks and culture mammalian cells using aseptic techniques.
• Generate stable tumor cell lines using electroporation, viral delivery, and nanoparticle transfection.
• Design and perform plate-based assays, including ELISA and Luminex/MSD, and process flow-cytometry data.
• Document experiments, validate instruments and reagents, communicate results, and collaborate in cross-functional project teams focused on oncology and autoimmune diseases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or a related field with typically 3 or more years of experience, or a master’s degree with no additional experience required.
• Experience culturing mammalian cell lines, T cells, and PBMCs using aseptic or sterile techniques.
• Experience with viral and non-viral gene transfer methods for engineering mammalian cells.
• Experience designing and executing assays assessing T-cell function, including cytotoxicity, activation, proliferation, and cytokine profiling.
• Proficiency in flow cytometry and data processing.
• Role based in San Diego, California, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience producing and evaluating chimeric antigen receptors.
• Experience with CellEngine and Tableau.
