Research Scientist - Plasma Light Source Development

What you will do

• Develop next-generation laser-sustained plasma light sources in the sub-UV wavelength region for wafer inspection tools.
• Design and set up photometric tooling, including spectrometers, imagers, and photometers.
• Design, build, test, operate, and maintain complex laser, optical, vacuum, and high-pressure prototype systems.
• Process and analyze spectral data using Python, LabVIEW, Matlab, and similar tools.
• Design experiments, evaluate new concepts, validate critical subsystems, and develop specifications for future tools.
• Coordinate with suppliers, external technology partners, internal customers, and collaborators, and present technical results.

Requirements

• Experience in plasma spectroscopy and spectral analysis of plasma light sources.
• Experience designing and constructing optical metrology setups for photometry and spectroscopy.
• Expertise operating high-power lasers, laser alignment, diagnostics, and laser-safety protocols.
• Hands-on experience with optics, mechatronics, opto-mechanical systems, and optical system design.
• Knowledge of data acquisition, control approaches, data analysis, root-cause analysis, and optical system modeling using packages such as Zemax or Code V.
• Doctorate with no related experience, master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience; international travel is required for training and supplier engagements.
