Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States; hybrid

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

  • Lead track and civil design for major rail and transit projects across the Pacific Northwest and the United States.
  • Develop horizontal and vertical track alignments, turnouts, crossovers, special trackwork, and layouts for stations, corridors, yards, and maintenance facilities.
  • Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, design criteria, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Support corridor studies, feasibility assessments, constructability reviews, design alternatives, phasing, staging, and maintenance-of-way planning.
  • Coordinate with signaling, traction power, overhead catenary, communications, civil, structural, and geotechnical disciplines.
  • Provide technical leadership and quality control, collaborate with clients and agencies, mentor engineers, and support proposals and business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 8 or more years of progressive rail track and civil engineering experience.
  • Experience with light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, freight rail, rail yards, or maintenance facilities.
  • Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. state, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • Strong knowledge of track geometry, horizontal and vertical alignment, corridor design, special trackwork, rail infrastructure integration, and rail operations.
  • Proficiency with Bentley OpenRail, OpenRoads, InRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar tools, plus knowledge of AREMA, FRA, and applicable U.S. agency standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Pacific Northwest transportation agencies such as Sound Transit, King County Metro, TriMet, WSDOT, ODOT, or Amtrak.
  • Experience with Class I or short-line freight railroads.
  • PMP certification or demonstrated project management experience.
