Senior Application Architect (Hadoop)

Location: Work from home in the United States; role associated with Richardson, Texas

Base pay: $112,200–$202,600 annually

What you will do

• Align project-specific designs with the application architecture roadmap.
• Support project and product teams with functional and technical design activities.
• Define interactions between application packages, databases, and middleware systems.
• Act as a subject matter expert for products integrated into applications.
• Design, configure, prototype, and troubleshoot applications and solutions.
• Support Hadoop-based architecture, cluster operations, integrations, and data processing.

Requirements

• Required professional background: a bachelor's degree and 5 years of IT experience, a technical certification or college coursework and 7 years of IT experience, or 9 years of IT experience.
• Experience with application or product feature design, application configuration, solution architecture, application development platforms, and application domain knowledge.
• Experience with cloud computing, including SaaS or PaaS, and DevOps or continuous integration and deployment tools.
• Experience with integration technologies, iterative or Agile or Scrum development, prototyping, analytical problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration.
• Preferred Hadoop expertise includes Linux or Unix, HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Spark, Sqoop, ZooKeeper, Oozie, and cluster monitoring tools.
• Visa sponsorship is not available, including for candidates currently on OPT.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cloudera Manager, Apache Ambari, Nagios, Ganglia, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Kerberos.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Scala for backend development and MapReduce jobs.
• Knowledge of distributed-system hardware, storage, networking, CPU, and memory considerations.
