TL;DR
Electrical Engineering Intern (Aerospace) (hardware testing and embedded systems): Supporting rocket and spacecraft hardware development through hardware bring-up, laboratory testing, prototype assembly, embedded firmware validation, data analysis, and motor control troubleshooting with an accent on hands-on electronics and applied engineering. Focus on performing circuit analysis, validating microcontroller and FPGA designs, using electronics test equipment, and solving hardware issues during a full-time on-site internship.
Location: Pasadena, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027

- Support hardware bring-up, laboratory testing, and prototype assembly.
- Validate embedded firmware and troubleshoot motor control systems.
- Collect and analyze engineering data.
- Apply engineering concepts to solve practical hardware challenges.
- Work with mentors and department employees while providing progress updates.
- Participate in technical talks and professional networking events.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Pasadena for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning May or June 2027.
- For work in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. ITAR export-control requirements is required, or the ability to obtain the necessary authorizations.
Nice to have
- GPA of 3.5 or above.
- At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
- Experience with FPGA and microcontroller design.
- Proficiency with SPICE circuit analysis and Excel.
- Familiarity with multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and soldering irons.
