Greenhouse Research Assistant/Technician 3 (Plant Science)

Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada; onsite work includes greenhouse, field, and outdoor duties in all weather.

Salary: $4,845.17–$5,713.66 CAD monthly

What you will do

• Schedule and assign greenhouse space and coordinate daily activities for staff and work-learn students.
• Support researchers, faculty, staff, and students with greenhouse procedures, projects, orientations, and facility tours.
• Perform horticultural, greenhouse, field, sanitation, and facility-maintenance tasks, including outdoor work.
• Coordinate nutrient recipes, water testing, biological controls, pesticide applications, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure safe equipment operation, identify hazards and repairs, and respond to emergencies affecting research activities.
• Develop and update greenhouse SOPs, prepare invoices, and support project and coursework setup.

Requirements

• Relevant technical program or university degree, plus at least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience or familiarity with horticulture production, greenhouse-based research, field operations, and safe equipment use.
• Knowledge of equipment and mechanical maintenance, strong organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, supervise or guide students, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly and courteously.
• Physical ability to lift up to 70 lb, stand for extended periods, operate a tractor, and work outdoors in all weather.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Valid Landscape-IPM BC Pesticide Applicator's Certificate.
• Experience with spreadsheets, database software, MS Office, hirify.global policies and procedures, and developing policies or SOPs.
