TL;DR
Director, Global Solid Tumor Communications & Public Affairs (Oncology): Leading integrated global communications and public affairs strategies for Johnson & Johnson’s solid tumor oncology portfolio and pipeline with an accent on stakeholder engagement, market shaping, executive counsel, and reputation management. Focus on translating business and stakeholder insights into global strategies, aligning regional and market teams, managing reputational risk, and developing teams and agency partners.

Location: Hybrid in-person role required in Raritan, New Jersey, or Spring House, Pennsylvania, United States; up to 25% domestic and international travel required.

Base pay: $150,000–$258,750 annually.

What you will do

  • Lead integrated global communications and public affairs strategies for the solid tumor portfolio and pipeline, covering lung, head and neck, gastrointestinal cancers, and interventional oncology.
  • Partner with regional and market teams to adapt strategies for priority markets and support access, innovation, and growth.
  • Develop market-shaping and business development communications informed by stakeholder, market, competitive, and external trend insights.
  • Advise senior leaders across R&D, commercial, business development, supply chain, HR, finance, investor relations, and reputation functions.
  • Manage communications across earned, owned, shared, and paid channels while proactively addressing issues and reputational risk.
  • Lead and develop team members and agency partners while strengthening collaboration, capability building, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Life Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or related external engagement roles.
  • Deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment, including R&D, commercialization, access, policy, competitive, and reputational dynamics.
  • Experience advising senior business, commercial, and scientific leaders and leading complex global initiatives across functions and markets.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and visual communication skills, with strong strategic, organizational, analytical, and execution abilities.
  • Experience managing issues and reputational risk and leading people and partners in a regulated environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in oncology or related specialty disease areas.
  • Experience partnering with Public Affairs, Market Access, and Government Affairs.
  • Experience working across multiple regions and markets.
