TL;DR
Software Engineer 2 (Linux/Python/Rust/HPC): Developing and maintaining system management infrastructure software and services for High Performance Computing systems in a Linux environment with an accent on Python and Rust development, Bash automation, and access control. Focus on automating deployment with Ansible, implementing authentication and authorization for HPC systems, and maintaining CI/CD workflows with GitLab CI.
Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; onsite. Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on years of experience.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain system management infrastructure software and services for HPC systems.
- Build software in a Linux environment using Python and Rust.
- Automate tasks and deployment processes with Bash, Python, and Ansible.
- Develop authentication protocols, authorization logic, access control lists, and permissions for HPC systems.
- Support Linux system administration, including user and group management.
- Work with CI/CD practices, GitLab CI, Git, and Agile methodologies.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph are required.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus three years of relevant software engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience, or seven years of relevant experience.
- Experience with the Linux CLI, Linux tools, and basic Linux systems administration.
- Recent software development experience with Python and Rust, plus Bash scripting.
- Experience with Ansible, authentication and authorization, access control, permissions, CI/CD, GitLab CI, and Git.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies.
Nice to have
- Experience with Docker, Podman, or other containerization technologies.
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
