Senior Associate Scientist (Synthetic Organic Chemistry)

Location: Groton, Connecticut, United States; on-premise laboratory work. Occasional travel is required for external manufacturing and scientific conferences. Relocation support may be available based on business needs and eligibility.

Annual base salary: $68,600–$114,300, plus eligibility for a 7.5% bonus target.

What you will do

• Design and execute synthetic routes for small molecules, peptides, lipids, and other complex drug candidates.
• Develop safe, efficient, robust, and scalable pharmaceutical processes through laboratory experimentation.
• Support process development from discovery-scale synthesis through commercial route development.
• Partner with chemists, analysts, engineers, technologists, manufacturing specialists, and external facilities.
• Support kilo-lab and pilot-plant API synthesis, technology transfer, and external manufacturing activities.
• Document experimental results, maintain accurate scientific notebooks, and communicate findings through reports and related documentation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Chemistry with laboratory-based research experience.
• Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and demonstrated laboratory performance.
• Familiarity with modern analytical tools, techniques, and data interpretation.
• Knowledge of published literature in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including clear scientific reporting.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

• Pharmaceutical industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with peptide and lipid synthesis.
• Experience with route development, scale-up, purification strategies, and cross-functional collaboration.
