Oracle Database Consultant (Oracle)

Location: Mexico; remote from home with no daily office travel requirement

What you will do

• Design, implement, configure, administer, maintain, and upgrade Oracle database and application infrastructure.
• Analyze client infrastructure and processes, recommend improvements, and support high availability and recoverability.
• Administer backups, disaster recovery, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and database restoration.
• Develop data architectures, normalized and dimensional models, DDL, migration scripts, and stored procedures.
• Monitor and troubleshoot incidents, lead problem management, and prepare maintenance, deployment, upgrade, and client reports.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, typically one weekend per month, and contribute to monitoring and process improvements.

Requirements

• Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and administering Oracle databases and related tools.
• Experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Salt.
• Strong debugging, methodical troubleshooting, documentation, and complex problem-solving skills.
• Experience with cloud-native database monitoring, including AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Operations, and Azure Monitor.
• Experience migrating Oracle, MySQL, and MSSQL databases to PostgreSQL using tools such as ora2pg, cloud Database Migration Services, and CDC techniques.
• Experience with on-premises and cloud database migrations, schema conversion, SQL compatibility, and post-migration performance tuning.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ITIL and experience contributing to Oracle, database, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Debezium, Striim, PostgreSQL monitoring tools, and PostgreSQL administration in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Scripting experience with Bash or Python and software development experience with C++, Java, or Go.
