Location: San Francisco, New York, Portland, or remote within Canada or the United States.

Salary: US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $189,400–$236,700 USD; US employees elsewhere: $170,400–$213,000 USD; Canadian employees: $179,000–$223,700 CAD.

What you will do

• Lead motion concepts for major product launches, campaigns, launch films, and brand moments.
• Build distinctive 3D worlds, products, materials, textures, environments, and brand assets.
• Create product storytelling, title design, typography, transitions, diagrams, UI motion, and interaction work.
• Define Mercury's motion design system, including principles for pacing, transitions, sound, interaction, and reusable behaviors.
• Build and evaluate AI-assisted workflows for pre-visualization, storyboarding, texture, world, and asset generation.
• Partner with Design, Writing, Narrative, Production, specialist artists, and studios while raising motion craft across Brand Studio.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional motion design experience with a portfolio demonstrating conceptual mastery of 3D and 2D motion.
• Advanced proficiency in Cinema 4D, Houdini, Blender, or similar 3D tools, including materials, texturing, lighting, and world-building.
• Advanced proficiency in After Effects or similar 2D motion tools, with strong command of timing, easing, composition, and finishing.
• Experience building and documenting motion systems or brand guidelines.
• Experience art-directing or mentoring designers, animators, or external studios.
• Fluency with AI tools in creative workflows and strong communication skills for explaining concepts and creative decisions.

Nice to have

• Exposure to scripting or procedural workflows such as expressions, Houdini VEX, or Python.
