Engineering Manager (Backend)

Location: Kaunas Office, hybrid

Salary: $190,000–$235,000 annually for the Massachusetts-based role, excluding annual bonus and recurring RSU grants.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional agile engineering teams focused on operational quality, reliability, security, and sustainable delivery.
• Own the team technical roadmap and align priorities with engineering leadership and the broader platform strategy.
• Guide backend architecture decisions, lead design reviews, and collaborate with technical leaders across engineering.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, performance feedback, career development, hiring, and onboarding.
• Manage delivery operations, dependencies, incident remediation, team health, delivery metrics, and service-level agreements.
• Develop operational tools using AI-enabled technologies and promote engineering best practices across coding, testing, deployment, and observability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of team management experience in B2B SaaS applications, including quality operations, enterprise maintenance, system sustainability, and contractual SLAs.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a directly managing engineering leadership role.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, backend service architecture, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
• Experience managing quality engineers, QA specialists, frontend engineers, and backend engineers.
• Experience with hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, promotions, structured feedback, and regular 1:1s.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
