Director of Engineering (Frontend)

Location: Hybrid workplace; 2 days in the office are recommended but not enforced, with exact in-person days decided by the team.

Salary: €124,300–€168,100 gross annually.

What you will do

• Lead the horizontal frontend technologies domain covering Android, iOS, Web, and Design Systems.
• Define and implement the frontend technology strategy for a Marketplace organization with 40+ teams and 9 product domains.
• Guide frontend modularization and modernization initiatives, including SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, native automated testing, core libraries, and frameworks.
• Improve design systems, accessibility, UI experimentation, release processes, performance monitoring, resilience, and reliability.
• Drive AI-enabled frontend development and explore cross-platform frontend opportunities.
• Influence director peers and product-domain leaders to align roadmaps and fund platform-wide changes.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience leading leaders.
• At least 5 years of experience influencing without formal authority.
• Strong technical acumen for in-depth discussions with Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers across frontend platforms.
• Experience creating and implementing organization-wide engineering strategy and delivering significant organizational change.
• Ability to balance long-term frontend architecture with concrete near-term delivery.
• This is a leadership and strategy role rather than a hands-on frontend or release-engineering position.
