TL;DR
Senior Counsel (Insurance Defense): Handling high-stakes civil defense matters, including court appearances, depositions, briefs, trials, discovery, and client communications, with an accent on litigation strategy, courtroom advocacy, and case leadership. Focus on developing compelling case themes, managing full case responsibilities, mentoring attorneys, and cultivating client relationships.
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States; remote, hybrid, or onsite work options are available. An active New Mexico bar license is required.
Base salary: $140,000–$170,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Annual billable-hours bonuses are also available.

What you will do
- Develop compelling case themes and defense strategies.
- Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, trials, discovery, and full case management.
- Communicate routinely with clients and cultivate relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Lead and direct less experienced attorneys while collaborating with lawyers at all experience levels.
- Manage high-stakes litigation matters with strategic judgment and minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Active bar license in New Mexico is required.
- JD from an ABA-approved law school.
- 8+ years of solid litigation experience, including litigation support, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Experience managing all aspects of discovery, trial preparation, and full case handling.
- Strong listening, verbal, written communication, independent decision-making, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and time-management systems.
