Manager, Sterile Operations (Pharmacy)

What you will do

• Oversee sterile compounding operations for an assigned modular cleanroom shift and serve as a subject matter expert in sterile compounding.
• Maintain aseptic technique, cleanroom standards, workflow controls, daily logs, and environmental monitoring procedures.
• Provide training and supervision to pharmacists, technicians, and other compounding personnel.
• Perform and document compounding procedures, quality assurance and quality control checks, and material approvals.
• Coordinate equipment monitoring, maintenance activities, regulatory matters, and collaboration with the R&D team on new sterile preparations.
• Ensure safe preparation of compounded medications in accordance with USP, FDA, state board, HIPAA, and internal requirements.

Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree with an active Ohio pharmacist license.
• At least 3 years of pharmacy experience, including sterile compounding, preferably from nonsterile starting components.
• At least 1 year of managerial experience supervising pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy support personnel.
• Deep knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800, pharmacy laws, rules, regulations, and sterile compounding best practices.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, use Windows-based systems, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to complete respirator fit testing, obtain medical approval for respiratory protection, and wear required PPE when handling hazardous drugs.

Nice to have

• CSPT certification or willingness to complete it during the first year.
• Board certification in sterile compounding or willingness to complete it during the first year.
• Experience as a designated person or assigned trainer in sterile compounding pharmacy.
• Experience with regulatory inspections and electronic compounding workflow or documentation systems.
