Emerging Fraud Researcher (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; not eligible for hiring in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, or Washington. Occasional travel may be required for project or team meetings.

What you will do

• Conduct independent research with AI tools to identify novel and emerging fraud trends.
• Analyze large-scale messaging and voice traffic to uncover fraudulent patterns, including AIT and ATO.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to create and refine machine learning fraud-detection models.
• Stress-test the network for vulnerabilities and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
• Lead investigations into high-impact fraud incidents, including root cause analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Monitor fraud and bot-detection industry trends to strengthen Twilio’s defensive posture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in fraud investigations, trust and safety, or security analysis within a high-growth technology environment or large-scale distributed systems.
• Advanced expertise in complex data analysis, SQL, and data visualization for large-scale datasets.
• Experience designing and executing proactive fraud-mitigation strategies.
• Strong cross-functional incident-response leadership and the ability to communicate complex security risks to technical and executive stakeholders.
• Must be eligible for remote hiring in the United States, excluding California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington.

Nice to have

• Experience in CPaaS, telecommunications, or payments.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and fraud-detection applications.
• CFE or CISSP certification.
