Firmware/Software Engineer, Professional I (Embedded Systems)

Location: Montreal, Canada; hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite

Salary: $67,120–$100,680 annual, plus a target performance-based cash incentive of 5% of base pay.

What you will do

• Develop, upgrade, and maintain firmware and software for smart cameras and industrial vision systems using C and C++.
• Integrate software and hardware while optimizing system performance, throughput, and power consumption.
• Contribute to BIOS, bootloader, driver, and firmware update development.
• Design and execute firmware and software tests, maintain technical documentation, and perform root cause analysis.
• Participate in code reviews, follow software engineering standards, and improve development tools and workflows.
• Explore AI-powered solutions, including Agentic AI, to accelerate software development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Relevant software engineering experience, or an advanced degree; exceptional candidates may be considered without the stated experience.
• Experience with embedded Linux, including kernel and driver development, is preferred.
• Knowledge of the Yocto Project, computer vision, image processing, industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP and Profinet, or BIOS development is preferred.
• Ability to communicate in French and English verbally and in writing is preferred.
