Senior Systems Engineer (Scientific Instrumentation)

What you will do

• Define and manage system-level requirements, technical specifications, product architectures, and subsystem interfaces.
• Lead integration of hardware, firmware, software, and mechanical subsystems into complete instrument solutions.
• Drive design reviews, technical risk assessments, verification strategies, validation approaches, and performance testing.
• Investigate complex system issues across software, firmware, electronics, optics, mechanics, and instrument control systems.
• Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, customer escalations, and sustaining engineering activities.
• Coach and mentor engineers while contributing to systems engineering practices and technical team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Significant systems engineering experience in a complex product development environment.
• Demonstrated success integrating multidisciplinary systems involving hardware, firmware, and software.
• Strong system-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence technical decisions across multiple engineering disciplines.

Nice to have

• Experience with scientific or analytical instrumentation, medical devices, semiconductor equipment, or complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience with requirements management, systems engineering methodologies, or model-based systems engineering tools.
• Previous line management, team leadership, or technical leadership experience.
• Experience in a global R&D organisation.
