Backend Engineer with Security Knowhow (Blockchain)

Location: Vadistanbul, Istanbul, Türkiye; hybrid work with office attendance two days per week during three weeks of each month and one fully remote week per month. Additional remote working opportunities are available throughout August.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services for digital asset operations.
• Build APIs and microservices for wallet administration, asset transfers, transaction signing, and custody workflows.
• Integrate blockchain SaaS vendors, institutional custody providers, HSMs, vaults, and key custody platforms.
• Design wallet provisioning, key lifecycle management, multi-signature, approval, segregation-of-duties, and privileged-access controls.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, resilience, monitoring, and operational readiness of critical services.
• Collaborate with architects, DevOps, security, blockchain, compliance, and product stakeholders on architecture reviews and secure deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, preferably Java 17 or later, Spring Boot, microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.
• Good understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Fluent English communication skills at C1 level or above.
• Ability to work in the hybrid Istanbul arrangement with regular attendance at the Vadistanbul office.

Nice to have

• Experience with MPC custody solutions and institutional custody providers.
• Knowledge of blockchain security and smart contract risks.
• Experience with Azure, ISO 27001, SOC 2, financial security standards, and Agile/Scrum.
