Senior Software Engineer (C++) (Aerospace)

Location: Lawrence, Kansas, United States; office-based work required

Salary: $111,500–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop C++ software for control algorithms, ground control station integrations, and payload interfaces.
• Support Android ground control station software development.
• Own software architecture and design decisions while evaluating performance, reliability, risk, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot aircraft and payload issues and integrate third-party payloads.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, software disciplines, the Chief Engineer, and Product Line Manager on requirements and new projects.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience, or equivalent master’s or PhD experience pathways.
• Extensive hands-on experience with modern C++, maintainable architecture, and modular system design.
• Experience with DDS or similar protocols, distributed data across constrained networks, and networking principles.
• Experience developing software for mechatronic or hardware-integrated systems, including deterministic and real-time concepts.
• Experience with CMake or similar build systems and cross-platform Android and Linux builds.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR requirements; U.S. citizenship is required for some government contracts. Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with UAS, drones, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or embedded systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kotlin, or Java.
• Willingness to travel locally occasionally.
