Senior Analytical Chemist (Nuclear Energy)

What you will do

• Lead analytical method development and sample characterization for sodium, solar salt, cover gas, fuel/material samples, impurities, and other Natrium process streams.
• Plan, set up, execute, document, and interpret laboratory experiments supporting chemistry, materials, and process development.
• Perform thermal characterization using DSC and TGA and thermodynamic modeling with FactSage, Thermochimica, or similar tools.
• Install, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate analytical instruments and experimental systems.
• Evaluate data quality, uncertainty, trends, and anomalies, translating results into technical recommendations for engineering teams.
• Prepare and review certificates of analysis, technical reports, procedures, publications, and other technical work products while maintaining safe and effective laboratory operations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, physical science, or a related technical field; at least 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree or a Ph.D. is required.
• Hands-on experience with analytical characterization methods such as ICP-MS, ICP-OES, gamma spectroscopy, or related elemental and isotopic techniques.
• Experience with analytical method development and with designing, executing, commissioning, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments and equipment.
• Experience with DSC, TGA, thermodynamic modeling, reactive materials, gloveboxes, inert-atmosphere systems, or chemical and radiochemical separations is relevant to the role.
• Ability to independently plan technical work, analyze quantitative data, and communicate complex findings across multidisciplinary science and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, statistical analysis, chemometrics, machine learning, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, gas analysis, Raman spectroscopy, corrosion studies, or high-temperature chemistry.
• Experience supporting materials testing, fuel/material compatibility studies, or nuclear industry work.
