Quantum Error Correction Theorist (Quantum Computing)

Location: Berkeley, CA or Boulder, CO; hybrid workplace.

Salary: $160,000–$185,000 annually, plus an annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Develop and optimize fault-tolerance schemes for gate-based atomic-array quantum computers.
• Develop and evaluate atom-movement optimization strategies for fault-tolerant computation.
• Collaborate with software and control-systems teams on classical compute layers required for fault-tolerant operations.
• Develop and implement decoders and quantum simulation tools.
• Implement quantum error correction on quantum hardware.

Requirements

• PhD in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
• Experience with quantum error-correction theory or experiments.
• Ability to translate abstract ideas into concrete demonstrations on quantum hardware.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with experimental physicists, hardware engineers, and software engineers.
• Familiarity with Python and Git software version control.
