Area Manager (Pipeline Operations)

Location: Tucson, Arizona, United States; onsite. The position requires 24-hour call-out availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve extensive travel with overnight stays.

Pipeline transportation company providing terminal, pump station, and related energy infrastructure operations.

What you will do

• Manage daily operations of terminals, pump stations, marine transfer facilities, pipelines, booster stations, remediation sites, and rights-of-way in the assigned area.
• Lead operators, technicians, schedulers, line riders, quality control personnel, and assistant area managers; assign workloads, evaluate performance, support training, and address employee relations matters.
• Coordinate petroleum product movement, customer deliveries, scheduling, sampling, meter calibration, quality control, service interruptions, and contractor activities.
• Control budgets, develop operational plans, manage projects, support capital work, and prioritize breakdowns and maintenance.
• Coordinate safety, emergency response, inspections, and compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
• Oversee hazardous waste storage, labeling, documentation, inspections, and employee training.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in engineering or business management is preferred.
• 5–7 years of well-rounded pipeline operations experience, including product movement, mechanical maintenance, personnel management, and legal and environmental requirements.
• Knowledge of refined petroleum pipeline facilities, equipment, products movement, engineering practices, piping, valves, and hydraulics.
• Current, valid state driver's license and a satisfactory driving record required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with strong mathematics, drawing-reading, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, around petroleum fumes, heavy equipment, construction sites, trenches, and confined spaces.

• College coursework in a technical or business field.
