Principal ML Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote (US)

Base salary: $175,000–$325,000 USD per year, with potential discretionary bonus and possible equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Architect, build, optimize, and maintain high-performance software for enterprise-grade orchestration.
• Lead platform modernization, strategic technology changes, refactoring, and code-quality improvements.
• Design complex multi-tier solutions, break down technical stories, define acceptance criteria, and guide delivery.
• Improve availability, latency, scalability, efficiency, and reliability in high-volume production environments.
• Use AI coding assistants to generate, review, evaluate, and safely apply production code.
• Coach engineers, lead code reviews, establish development practices, and share technical expertise through documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or a related technical or analytical discipline; an equivalent degree substitution is not accepted.
• 10+ years of relevant software development experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Expert coding, scripting, and debugging skills in Java, Python, or Go.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, with experience contributing as a senior individual contributor.
• Experience influencing technical decisions across teams, using AI coding assistants, and operating high-volume, mission-critical production services.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical architectures verbally, visually, and in writing.

Nice to have

• Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow.
