Automation Controls Engineer (Factory Automation)

Location: Space Coast, FL, United States. The role involves occasional travel for customer support and system installations. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, current permanent residents, or lawfully admitted refugees or asylees.

What you will do

• Design electrical panels, schematics, tooling, fixtures, robotic cells, and custom automation machines.
• Develop PLC, robot, motion, vision, and other automation software and integrate complete control systems.
• Create bills of materials, assembly instructions, technical documentation, and ECAD designs.
• Support prototyping, design reviews, fabrication, assembly, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and production operations.
• Collaborate with customer, tooling, project management, manufacturing, and mechanical engineering teams to deliver manufacturable and safe solutions.
• Improve manufacturing reliability, efficiency, system performance, technical architecture, and automation roadmaps.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical and software design experience in automation, robotics, or industrial equipment.
• Experience designing and supporting custom automation equipment and implementing new automation processes and technologies.
• Proficiency with ECAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or ePlan and automation software including TIA Portal, Studio 5000, TwinCAT, or WinCC.
• Experience programming PLCs from scratch on Siemens, Beckhoff, or Rockwell platforms and integrating KUKA, FANUC, ABB, or similar robotic systems.
• Strong understanding of machine design, motion systems, pneumatic actuators, manufacturing processes, industrial safety, and ergonomic standards.
• Must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements and be available for onsite work in Space Coast, Florida.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, automation, or a related field.
• Experience with system integrators, CNC machine integration, SCADA platforms, large-part tooling, mechanical drawings, project management, 3D layouts, or robot simulations.
