TL;DR
Hydrometallurgy Process Intern (Chemical Engineering/Metallurgy): Supporting hydrometallurgical studies for rare earths, critical minerals, and battery metals with an accent on mass balance modeling, process simulation, equipment selection, and process design deliverables. Focus on developing technical specifications, evaluating process alternatives, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with engineers, designers, clients, and project personnel.
Location: Tampa, Florida, United States. The role is primarily office-based, with remote work flexibility when needed.

What you will do
- Support hydrometallurgical studies involving rare earths, critical minerals, and battery metals.
- Prepare design calculations and mass balance models using process simulation software such as METSIM, SysCAD, and IDEAS.
- Evaluate process alternatives, equipment and technology selection, and materials of construction.
- Prepare process equipment data sheets, specifications, process descriptions, and control philosophies.
- Support plant layout reviews, detailed design, drawings, and project cost estimates.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, technicians, clients, contractors, and field personnel to deliver project work.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, extractive metallurgy, or a related field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a strong academic record.
- Proven skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of engineering and business fundamentals, with strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, collaborate effectively, and pay close attention to detail.

Nice to have
- Previous co-op or summer experience in metallurgical or chemical process plants or engineering.
- Academic or professional experience with process modeling, process equipment, and process engineering deliverables.
