TL;DR

Lead Architect, Databricks (Data & AI Platforms): Designing and implementing enterprise-scale Databricks Lakehouse platforms, data products, and AI/ML foundations with an accent on cloud-native engineering, governance, security, and stakeholder-led architecture. Focus on building batch and streaming architectures, enabling GenAI and RAG solutions, optimizing platform reliability and performance, and guiding distributed delivery teams.

Location: Dallas, Texas; client onsite

Salary: Up to $150,000 per year, plus a discretionary performance bonus.

What you will do

Lead client-facing architecture for enterprise Data & AI initiatives on the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.
Design and implement scalable batch, streaming, near-real-time, and event-driven data architectures.
Architect data ingestion, transformation, storage, orchestration, data products, and enterprise integrations.
Establish engineering standards, reusable reference architectures, governance frameworks, and delivery best practices.
Enable machine learning, GenAI, Agentic AI, and RAG use cases through governed data and ML platforms.
Guide onsite and offshore engineering teams, review designs, mentor technical staff, and resolve complex delivery risks.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, cloud platforms, or enterprise data architecture, including 5+ years with Databricks architecture and implementation.
Deep expertise in Databricks Lakehouse, Apache Spark, PySpark, SQL, Python, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Workflows.
Experience designing enterprise-scale batch and streaming platforms, multi-workspace deployments, data governance, security, access control, and performance optimization.
Strong experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP; Azure is preferred.
Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, Terraform, cloud networking, authentication, monitoring, and automated deployments.

Nice to have

Experience with MLflow, MLOps, model lifecycle management, GenAI, RAG, vector search, and enterprise AI platforms.
Experience with dbt, Kafka, APIs, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, or Informatica.
Databricks, Azure, AWS, or GCP certifications.
Experience with Fortune 500 clients, regulated industries, or global onsite/offshore delivery models.
