Safety Specialist - N. Virginia

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; onsite field role

Salary: $88,000–$120,000 annually, negotiable

What you will do

• Provide field support for company and client safety and health policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop safety strategies, work plans, emergency response plans, and pre-job hazard planning.
• Lead safety meetings, training programs, and employee education.
• Conduct and document safety audits, inspections, evaluations, and behavioral observations.
• Investigate injury, illness, and liability incidents and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate safety programs with subcontractors, vendors, third parties, and regulatory authorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Health or equivalent technical training and experience.
• 5+ years of construction-industry safety and health experience preferred.
• CHST certification is required for the job site.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable state and federal safety regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to work 50+ hours per week, including nights and weekends, and respond effectively under pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience with highways, bridges, underground utilities, water and wastewater facilities, or marine construction.
• ICS 300/400 certification.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
• OSHA 30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer certification.
