Engineer II/III, Automation

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, United States; onsite support for the 900 Davis Drive manufacturing site

Salary: $65,000–$100,000 per year, with Engineer II at $65,000–$85,000 and Engineer III at $77,000–$100,000

What you will do

• Design, develop, install, commission, and qualify automation and process control systems.
• Define process requirements and develop control system specifications with cross-functional teams.
• Configure and program PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, and integrate instrumentation and control systems.
• Troubleshoot automation, system integration, and process control issues while providing 24/7 site support.
• Support cGMP validation, investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and compliant documentation with Quality.
• Lead or support OPEX and CAPEX projects, preventive maintenance strategies, site standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Engineer III requires at least 2 years of automation engineering experience.
• Engineer III requires at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Rockwell and Wonderware/AVEVA systems, or extensive experience with comparable DCS platforms such as Siemens Plus.
• Experience with validation processes, user requirements, system functional/design documents, and test protocols.
• Ability to understand risks and associated controls in electrically classified areas.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and provide possible shift coverage at the manufacturing site.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience in data science, data analysis, or machine learning.
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience, including 21 CFR Part 11 and control-system validation.
