TL;DR
Sr Reliability Engineer (Medical Devices): Developing reliability strategies, plans, and tests for surgical medical devices with an accent on HALT/ALT testing, reliability modeling, design controls, and regulatory compliance. Focus on identifying design weaknesses, analyzing failure data, validating test methods, and ensuring product reliability throughout the development lifecycle.

Location: North Haven, Connecticut, United States

Salary: $107,200–$160,800 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Provide mechanical and electrical reliability engineering expertise within cross-functional new product development teams.
  • Develop reliability plans and define reliability activities for surgical medical devices.
  • Plan and perform HALT, ALT, discovery, mechanical, electrical, and thermal reliability testing.
  • Support test method validation and verification, including test plans, protocols, and final reports.
  • Perform reliability predictions, modeling, data analysis, de-rating analysis, and post-market failure analysis.
  • Maintain compliant reliability documentation and support adherence to FDA and applicable ISO/IEC standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability, or a similar engineering discipline and 4+ years of reliability engineering experience; or a master’s degree with 2+ years of experience; or a PhD with no required experience.
  • Experience with reliability engineering, reliability planning, reliability testing, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, risk management, regulatory compliance, statistics, and design controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and project leadership skills.
  • Must possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and throughout employment.
  • U.S. work authorization sponsorship is not available for roles below the Principal level.

Nice to have

  • ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, Six Sigma Green Belt, AAMI design control, or similar certification.
  • Medical device, automotive, or aerospace industry experience.
  • Experience with ReliaSoft, LabVIEW, or Sherlock.
  • Experience leading reliability processes and partnering with software reliability and development teams.
