TL;DR
Staff AI/ML Scientist (Conversational AI) (AI/ML, NLP, Azure, Databricks): Building multi-turn, state-aware conversational agents and end-to-end AI solutions for complex sustainability and enterprise-domain data with an accent on agentic frameworks, LLM reasoning loops, and production-scale machine learning. Focus on designing autonomous or semi-autonomous systems, leading Conversational AI initiatives, mentoring scientists and engineers, and integrating models into customer-facing products.
Location: Hybrid in Barcelona, Spain, with 4 days per month in the office, or fully remote from Spain. Candidates must be eligible to work and live in Spain.

What you will do
- Design and test multi-turn, state-aware conversational systems using LLM reasoning loops and multi-agent orchestration frameworks.
- Build conversational agents for sustainable procurement, supply chain resilience, decarbonisation, and other complex enterprise use cases.
- Use Python, MLflow, Azure, Azure ML, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks to deliver, benchmark, and maintain end-to-end AI/ML solutions.
- Lead functional teams and initiatives that accelerate the adoption of Conversational AI.
- Collaborate with customers to evaluate needs and recommend solutions that improve satisfaction and business value.
- Promote AI/ML best practices, mentor junior team members, and apply current advances in generative and agentic AI.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in machine learning and NLP, including 4+ years specializing in Conversational AI in production environments.
- Advanced knowledge of agentic frameworks and a proven track record building autonomous or semi-autonomous agentic systems at scale.
- Experience leading end-to-end AI initiatives from design through implementation and integration, using sound software development practices.
- Excellent mentoring, delivery accountability, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Eligibility to work and live in Spain is required.
Nice to have
- Experience building conversational interfaces for complex enterprise domains such as supply chain, procurement, or financial risk.
- Peer-reviewed publications in leading NLP/AI venues including ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, AAAI, or KDD.
