Location: Valencia, Spain (onsite). The role is based in Almussafes and includes occasional travel within the UK and Europe.

What you will do
- Lead the new product safety laboratory, managing daily operations, workflows, resources, and team performance.
- Design, execute, interpret, and report experiments supporting R&D, innovation projects, and major business initiatives.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers, presenting results and commercially relevant recommendations.
- Represent the laboratory during customer visits, audits, and technical reviews.
- Manage the laboratory budget, purchasing, inventory, equipment, and cost control.
- Improve laboratory methods and processes while maintaining health, safety, quality, maintenance, and confidentiality standards.
Requirements
- MSc or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or a related discipline; a PhD is advantageous.
- Experience using analytical instrumentation in an industrial, R&D, testing, or CRO environment.
- Practical experience with HPLC, GC, ICP, method development, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience assessing food contact materials and regulatory compliance, particularly for paper, board, and cellulose-based packaging.
- Experience managing projects, laboratory operations, quality systems, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Very good written and spoken Spanish at B2 level and English at C1 level are required.

- Previous experience with paper, board, or packaging materials.
- PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
