What you will do
- Build and deploy end-to-end features for DeepL Voice across frontend, backend, streaming audio, and AI inference layers.
- Develop polished user interfaces with React and TypeScript.
- Ship backend services with Node.js and TypeScript or a strongly transferable language.
- Design and improve real-time communication systems using WebRTC, WebSockets, and streaming architectures.
- Debug latency spikes, transcript flicker, audio glitches, and failures caused by unstable networks.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Designers, and AI Researchers in a cross-functional squad.
Requirements
- Full-stack engineering experience across modern frontend and backend systems.
- Strong React and TypeScript skills, with backend experience in Node.js/TypeScript or a transferable language.
- Experience with real-time systems, WebRTC, WebSockets, streaming architectures, or latency-sensitive applications.
- Ability to build, prototype, refactor, and scale features in a 0-to-1 environment.
- Product-first mindset with attention to conversation flow, customer value, reliability, and performance.
- Ability to work in a hybrid setup in London, including office attendance twice a week.
Nice to have
- Experience building AI-powered products or integrating AI inference systems.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
