Graduate Trainee Engineer (Medical Devices): Developing and manufacturing hip and knee joint reconstruction implants, surgical instruments, and related processes through rotations across design and development, manufacturing, quality, and operations with an accent on the full medical-device product lifecycle. Focus on product design, verification and validation, process development, manufacturing optimisation, design transfer, and continuous improvement in a highly regulated environment.

What you will do

  • Complete a two-year engineering graduate programme with rotations across Design & Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
  • Contribute to the development and manufacture of hip and knee joint reconstruction implants, surgical processes, and instruments.
  • Support product design, verification and validation, process development, design for manufacture, design transfer, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality engineers, clinicians, and other technical experts across the product lifecycle.
  • Take ownership of project work with support from supervisors and the wider team.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work permanently in the UK.
  • Graduated within the last two years with at least a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Bioengineering, Product Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Degree qualification at 2:1 or above.
  • Strong teamwork, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, a proactive approach, and a strong desire to work in orthopaedics.
