Outreach Officer (Materials Science)

Location: Oxford Road, Manchester, United Kingdom. Applicants must demonstrate the right to work in the UK; the role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Deliver outreach activities centred on widening participation and raise awareness of materials science.
• Organise and deliver public engagement events, community fairs, science festivals and museum activities.
• Coordinate local, regional and national events focused on materials science research and innovation.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across academia, industry and the wider materials community.
• Design and implement exhibitions and displays highlighting materials research.
• Work with technical staff, researchers, students, school pupils and members of the public.

Requirements

• Interest in sharing knowledge and experience related to materials science or the physical sciences.
• Ability to communicate with varied stakeholders, including school children, the public, academics and industry professionals.
• Ability to organise and deliver outreach and public engagement activities.
• Ability to develop stakeholder relationships and reflect their requirements in programme activities.
• Right to work in the UK is required.
