Head of Software Engineering - C#.NET, Java, AWS, AI

Location: Hybrid role based in Nottingham, with required travel to the London office once a week; approximately 40% office-based.

What you will do

• Lead globally distributed engineering teams across the Identity & Fraud organisation.
• Set engineering direction, priorities, accountability, and sustainable delivery practices.
• Drive AI-native engineering by embedding AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making into development and operations.
• Provide technical leadership across Java Full Stack, .NET, AWS, EKS, Claude, Cursor, and modern deployment practices.
• Lead technology modernisation, legacy simplification, and adoption of new platforms and architectures.
• Own workforce planning, budgets, vendor relationships, delivery risks, governance, and senior stakeholder communication.

Requirements

• Strong experience building, coaching, and developing global engineering teams.
• Proficiency in .NET, AWS, EKS, DevOps, Claude, Cursor, and modern engineering and deployment practices.
• Experience using AI tools and driving their adoption across engineering teams.
• Experience working in secure development environments with awareness of governance, security, compliance, and enterprise risk standards.
• Strong stakeholder relationship-building, influencing, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in the hybrid Nottingham setup and travel to the London office weekly.
