Director - R&D, Advanced Technologies (Semiconductor)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; onsite role

Salary: $192,000–$336,000 annually

hirify.global develops inspection, measurement, and process-control systems for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. The SensArray division provides in situ thermal process measurement and control solutions for semiconductor fabs and mask shops.

What you will do

• Define and execute the long-term SensArray technology, innovation, and product roadmap.
• Lead advanced R&D programs for semiconductor process characterization, including temperature control and wafer handling.
• Drive N+1 and N+2 product planning, technology incubation, and commercialization from concept through product development.
• Identify technology inflections, market trends, and competitive developments while managing innovation-program risks.
• Build and lead multidisciplinary engineering and R&D teams, including managers, principal engineers, and technical experts.
• Develop intellectual property, technology assessments, business cases, investment recommendations, and process models covering thermal, plasma, and mechanical properties.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, semiconductor engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 15 years of experience in semiconductor equipment, metrology, sensors, process control, or related technology industries.
• At least 8 years of leadership experience managing engineering and technical development organizations.
• Track record of delivering innovative technology programs from concept through commercialization and developing long-range technology roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and technology trends.
• Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with sensors, advanced packaging, process monitoring, thermal characterization, automation, AI-enabled analytics, or industrial sensing.
• Experience modeling and simulating thermal, plasma, and mechanical properties in semiconductor process flows.
• Successful patent generation, technology commercialization, and work with leading semiconductor manufacturers or research organizations.
• Experience leading globally distributed engineering organizations and connecting technology strategy to revenue growth.
