Grid Services Vegetation & Natural Resource Intern (Vegetation Management/Environmental Health and Safety): Reviewing vegetation management work plans and mapping data to identify environmentally sensitive interactions, with an accent on natural resource assessments, environmental compliance, and field validation. Focus on conducting desktop map reviews, supporting protected bat roost surveys, validating remote-sensing data, and assisting with field assessments across the Carolinas.
Location: Lancaster, South Carolina; program opportunities are available in South Carolina and North Carolina. Hybrid and onsite work environments are available. The role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship.

What you will do
- Review vegetation management work plan maps using environmental checklists.
- Identify and document potential interactions with environmentally sensitive areas.
- Review mapping data for quality and accuracy.
- Support field assessments, protected bat roost surveys, and remote-sensing field validations.
- Work with the VM System Forester, VM Program Managers, and Environmental and Natural Resource teams.
- Build technical and professional knowledge while making decisions with mentor or supervisor guidance.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor's or master's degree program in Natural Resources or a related field.
- Must not graduate before August 2027.
- Cumulative college GPA of at least 2.75.
- Preferred fields include Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Wildlife Management, Fisheries, and Environmental Sciences.
- Strong computer, written communication, oral communication, decision-making, prioritization, and planning skills.
- Valid driver's license required; some work locations may require security clearance or unescorted access.

- Technical proficiency with computers and mapping-related data.
