Cab & Body Structures Engineer II (Automotive)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days per week in-office and 1 day remote. Applicants may work in or relocate to Portland, but relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $86,000–$110,000 USD per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Develop cabin floor components, assemblies, and primary cab structures for heavy-duty vehicles.
• Create reliable, serviceable, energy-efficient, and competitive designs using engineering and CAD principles.
• Optimize cab structure designs for vehicle applications, cost, complexity, and manufacturability.
• Support tooling, manufacturing plants, quality assurance, service, validation, and compliance activities.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, manufacturing, product strategy, commercial teams, and multi-tier suppliers.
• Support exterior lighting, camera integration, and mirror development when team workload requires.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering; mechanical engineering preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with CAD software and the design of structures, complex assemblies, and/or Class-A surfaces.
• Experience designing and supporting tooling and manufacturing for large stampings.
• Understanding of basic vehicle design principles, engineering applications, processes, and manufacturing methods.
• Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship and applications from existing visa holders are not accepted.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with PAR processes and ELM specification requirements tools.
• Experience leading small teams and managing multiple projects independently.
• Experience with design specifications, industry safety practices, engineering systems, feature requirements, software, architecture, and functional safety.
• Previous experience with exterior lighting, cameras, or mirrors.
