Manager, HSE Communications

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; on-site. The role requires readiness to work in active industrial and construction environments, including PPE and site safety training.

Salary: $160,000–$195,000 per year plus bonus, with Restricted Stock Units included in all offers.

What you will do

• Develop HSE narratives and translate complex health, safety, and environment topics into clear communications for diverse employee audiences.
• Own and execute an annual internal communications plan, including channel strategies for deskless employees through digital signage, SMS, shift huddles, printed materials, and mobile-first content.
• Produce or direct video and multimedia content that increases engagement with safety communications.
• Build incident and crisis communications playbooks and coordinate responses with HSE, Communications, Legal, and leadership.
• Support safety training, onboarding, toolbox talks, manager enablement, and frontline supervisor communications.
• Develop external thought leadership, brand assets, feedback mechanisms, competitive intelligence, compliance communications, and performance measurement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of communications experience with a record of running programs end to end.
• Exceptional audience-focused writing and strong narrative development skills.
• Daily use of AI tools and an AI-first approach to communications workflows.
• Experience with HSE and preferably industrial, energy, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Experience planning and leading crisis communications for a safety incident or similar high-stakes event.
• Hands-on video and multimedia production experience, frontline communications expertise, cross-functional collaboration skills, and a metrics-driven approach.

Nice to have

• Experience directing brand or production partners for external-facing HSE communications.
• Experience developing thought leadership content such as op-eds, speaking materials, blogs, and social posts.
