Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: Based out of Figma's San Francisco or New York hub offices, with in-person onboarding required

Hourly base pay: $55 USD per hour; housing stipend and travel reimbursement are also offered.

Figma develops a collaborative design platform that helps teams brainstorm, prototype, translate designs into code, and iterate with AI in real time.

What you will do

• Join an engineering team and contribute to projects aligned with team goals.
• Build, document, and maintain features, tests, tools, or infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to break down features and plan timelines.
• Participate in peer code reviews, share feedback, and work closely with a mentor and teammates.
• Ship a project by the end of the internship.

Requirements

• Experience writing clean code in at least one general-purpose language, such as C++, JavaScript, Python, or Java.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
• Experience solving technical problems through school, work, or personal projects.
• Interest in how systems are designed and operate, from infrastructure to user interfaces.
• Strong communication, collaboration, curiosity, and willingness to learn from feedback.

Nice to have

• Interest in product engineering, platform and infrastructure, security engineering, or exploring multiple engineering areas.
