Senior Software Engineer, Developer Platform (AI)

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States

Salary: $150,000–$226,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the technical design and implementation of significant developer platform capabilities.
• Build cloud-native, self-service infrastructure using open-source technologies such as Kubernetes, VSCode, Backstage, and Terraform.
• Develop integrated capabilities across AI, IDE extensions, application templates, developer portals, CI/CD, and related platform areas.
• Scope work, set priorities, and drive execution for platform initiatives.
• Establish production engineering practices including monitoring, frequent releases, reliable CI, and strong code health.
• Guide junior developers, contribute to roadmaps and design reviews, and prioritize user-facing developer experience improvements.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure production products or services.
• Professional experience with Go, Python, TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Azure, and with tools including GitHub Actions, VSCode, Kubernetes, or Backstage.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design, with analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
• Must not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience building solutions with large language models.
• Knowledge of microservices, software delivery platforms, DevSecOps, continuous integration, and release management.
• Experience working on a centralized developer platform team.
• Strong interest in developer experience and empathy for platform users.
