Senior C++ Engineer L1

Location: Remote from Lima, Bogotá, Medellín, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, San José, or Santiago

Salary: $3,200–$3,700 per month USD

What you will do

• Refactor existing C++ components to improve maintainability, readability, performance, and code quality.
• Analyze legacy and complex codebases to identify and resolve defects, inefficiencies, technical debt, and architectural issues.
• Implement incremental improvements while preserving existing system behavior, architecture, and technology choices.
• Collaborate with architects, technical leads, and engineers on safe refactoring strategies.
• Conduct code reviews, improve unit test coverage, and validate refactored functionality.
• Document technical findings, design decisions, and refactoring approaches.

Requirements

• Senior-level professional experience developing production applications in C++
• Experience working with large, legacy, or long-lived enterprise codebases and performing code refactoring or modernization.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, memory management, performance optimization, and software engineering practices.
• Experience debugging complex systems, performing root cause analysis, and resolving technical issues.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience improving testability and automated test coverage in legacy applications.
• Familiarity with static code analysis, profiling, and performance diagnostic tools.
• Experience in regulated or mission-critical environments requiring backward compatibility.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
