Technical Lead, Field Communication - Substation Automation

Location: Berlin, CT; travel between MA, CT, and NH is required as necessary. Emergency restoration assignments may require work outside normal hours and locations.

Salary: $116,020–$128,910 annually, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and operation of field communication and automation systems.
• Coordinate schedules and provide work direction to engineers, test specialists, technicians, maintenance crews, vendors, and contractors.
• Define project scope, oversee contractor activities, and support successful project completion with engineering and design groups.
• Analyze maintenance data, verify records, identify recurring equipment problems, and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage spare parts, tools, materials, equipment, and personnel resources across assigned sites and systems.
• Provide technical guidance and training, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and assume supervisory duties when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five to eight years of related experience.
• Thorough knowledge of field communications equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and operation.
• Ability to repair, adjust, test, and operate equipment; analyze technical issues; and make corrective decisions.
• Strong computer skills, including software used for databases, test equipment, and hardware configuration.
• Valid motor vehicle license with a good driving record; availability for emergency restoration assignments is required.
