Certified Weld Inspector (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Inspect incoming raw materials, fabricated components, weldments, supplier parts, and finished products.
• Evaluate welded assemblies, weld size and profile, fit-up, penetration indicators, visible discontinuities, dimensions, and workmanship.
• Verify welding procedures, materials, filler metals, welder qualifications, supplier documentation, and material certifications.
• Identify and document nonconforming materials and workmanship, and initiate or support NCRs and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and suppliers to investigate quality concerns and perform root cause analysis.
• Maintain inspection records and support continuous improvement, supplier quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
• At least 2 years of experience in quality inspection, welding inspection, fabrication, or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of welding processes, weld symbols, welding terminology, common weld defects, and applicable AWS welding codes and standards.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation, and use precision measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Technical education in Welding, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with NCRs, corrective actions, root cause analysis, supplier quality, or incoming material issues.
• Experience inspecting structural steel, sheet metal, frames, enclosures, or other fabricated components.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, Epicor MRP, or additional NDT certifications and methods.
• Experience in power generation, electrical equipment, switchgear, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
