Senior Java Backend Developer (Financial Risk and P&L Systems)

Location: Porto, Portugal; hybrid work with up to 3 remote days per week. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Redesign and enhance backend data loading and processing systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Migrate legacy infrastructure to distributed platforms including Kafka, OpenShift, and SingleStoreDB.
• Develop and maintain automated tests based on TDD and BDD principles.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment across the full software development lifecycle.
• Deliver scalable backend solutions for Risk and Profit & Loss systems.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience as a Java Backend Developer in enterprise systems.
• Deep proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Sybase, or SingleStoreDB.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and TDD/BDD methodologies.
• Fluent English at a minimum B2 level.
• Existing legal right to work in the European Union is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Kafka, OpenShift, distributed data systems such as Hadoop, HDFS, or Hive, microservices, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in Financial Services, Risk Management, or Banking systems.
• Knowledge of French.
