Senior Software Engineer (Search Infrastructure)

Location: Kraków, Poland; hybrid

Salary: PLN 208,000–312,000 per year, plus an annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

A legal data intelligence company building an AI-powered cloud platform for organizing, searching, and analyzing information in litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and other high-stakes legal matters.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and scale distributed search platform capabilities in a cloud environment.
• Run production systems supporting high-volume, mission-critical customer workflows.
• Develop maintainable backend software and resolve complex production defects and incidents.
• Improve observability, automation, capacity planning, reliability, performance, and operational readiness.
• Participate in production support and on-call responsibilities after onboarding.
• Collaborate with engineering, SRE, product, and architecture partners to shape the search platform roadmap and long-term architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience developing commercial software systems or infrastructure platforms.
• Experience building, operating, or scaling distributed systems in production and managing mission-critical systems at scale.
• Production support or on-call experience, including incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with scalable solutions in a major public cloud and hands-on programming in a modern backend language.
• Fluent verbal and written English and ability to work in the hybrid Kraków setup.

Nice to have

• Experience with petabyte-scale search, indexing, or retrieval infrastructure.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Lance, TurboPuffer, or comparable search and vector infrastructure.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Azure, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, Pulumi, CI/CD, or progressive delivery.
• Experience with observability and alerting tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or New Relic.
• Experience improving performance, reliability, cost efficiency, or operational toil in large-scale infrastructure systems.
