Menswear Tailoring Designer - Next Sourcing

Location: Leicester, United Kingdom; typically 5 days in the office with flexible core hours between 8am and 6pm

What you will do

• Design commercial menswear tailoring collections, including soft tailored blazers, structured suits, formal trousers, coats, and smart-casual separates.
• Research international runway collections, contemporary tailoring, and global street style, translating trends into commercially viable ranges.
• Develop designs using detailed CADs, range plans, technical specification packs, and accurate construction callouts.
• Apply knowledge of canvas types, shoulder pads, linings, suiting fabrics, pattern-making principles, and tailored garment construction.
• Travel for seasonal trend research and visit mills, suppliers, and factories to oversee fabric sourcing, sample development, and fit sessions.
• Collaborate with sourcing specialists, garment technologists, buyers, pattern cutters, and overseas manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• Strong menswear or womenswear formalwear and tailoring design experience, with a sharp understanding of silhouette, proportion, cut, and detail.
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for CAD renders, construction callouts, and technical packs.
• Solid knowledge of tailored garment construction, pattern-making principles, lining details, and suiting fabric behaviour.
• Experience in a high-volume retailer, established tailoring brand, or major global supplier, including knowledge of retail calendars and lead times.
• Strong collaboration, presentation, organisation, and time-management skills in a fast-paced commercial environment.
• Applicants must provide a digital portfolio demonstrating direct tailoring design and CAD work; applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
