Data Analyst (SQL/Power BI)

Location: Leicestershire, United Kingdom; fully office-based with attendance five days a week.

Salary: From £33,000 per year.

What you will do

• Query, transform, analyse, optimise, and debug complex operational and financial datasets using SQL/T-SQL.
• Use Databricks to investigate data and provide insights for retail and stock operations.
• Develop Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions, including data modelling and DAX.
• Maintain data quality, validation, governance, and trusted reporting processes.
• Define KPIs and reporting requirements with Finance and operational stakeholders.
• Analyse performance and variances, identify improvement opportunities, and communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Advanced SQL/T-SQL skills, including writing, optimising, and debugging complex queries and working with large datasets.
• Experience creating reliable, scalable data solutions for reporting and analytical consumption.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable business insight.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex findings to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive ownership of solutions from requirements through delivery.
• Experience working in a large-scale operational environment.

Nice to have

• Python experience, particularly for data manipulation and scripting.
• Hands-on Databricks experience, including notebooks, data modelling, and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Power BI development experience, including dashboard design, data modelling, and DAX.
• Experience with Databricks Workflows/Jobs, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, and data governance and quality frameworks.
• Experience in Finance, Retail, Supply Chain, or a similar operational environment.
