Principal Scientist (Cancer Early Detection)

Location: Englewood, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $165,000–$215,000 base pay per year; additional compensation of $7,500–$20,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the cancer early detection team and cancer biomarker research group.
• Develop blood- and urine-based biomarker systems for early-stage cancer screening and detection.
• Quantify CTCs, cfDNA, proteins, RNA, metabolites, gene mutations, and epigenetic modifications.
• Contribute to translational cancer screening, diagnostic, prevention, and therapeutic research.
• Collaborate with the Biomarkers Team on molecular and cellular cancer prevention screening assays.

Requirements

• PhD, MD, or both.
• At least 10 years of cancer research experience, preferably in early detection and biomarkers.
• Current, in-depth knowledge of pan-cancer screening, early detection, biomarkers, diagnostics, genetics, prevention, and therapeutics.
• Programming experience in Python and a solid grasp of biostatistics, especially probability theory.
• Experience with prediction modeling and machine learning, including proper scoring rules.
• Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Expertise in worldwide cancer biomarker and detection assay development pipelines.
• Experience with cell-based assays, immunofluorescent microscopy, qPCR, flow cytometry, single-cell genomics, RNA sequencing, cell and organoid culture, and biomarker analysis.
• Experience with laboratory platforms including Illumina NextSeq 550, ddPCR, Luminex, clinical chemistry instrumentation, robotic liquid handling, and DepArray.
